IPMM is happy to unveil Shared Walls by IPaintMyMind™ at Sol Cafe, a cross-sector arts program that emphasizes the transformative power of art by putting art exhibitions in non-traditional spaces like schools and small businesses. A wall without art on it, is lesser than an art with. Putting art in spaces where it normally doesn’t exist creates a new synergy between artists, communities, and the common good. As a nonprofit organization dedicated to media and the arts, our minds have been moving (for a while now), on how IPaintMyMind could amplify its mission in 3D: providing real avenues for engagement with the arts. We find it essential to curate art available at price points that aren’t prohibitive for the average person. If a piece of artwork costs $250, you might have to consult your significant other before making the financial commitment. If it’s $20, you might shoot from the hip. As art lovers, curators, organizers, and patrons, we get it: the rent takes priority over art. That being said, IPMM finds it to be incumbent upon the creative community to find the commonality by creating art at price points that makes art more accessible to everyone.
Today (9/2/13), the IPMM Team installed our first exhibition of Shared Walls by IPaintMyMind™ in Sol Cafe on Howard Ave in Rogers Park. We’ve curated the work of Steve Walters, Zach Johnsen, Vidhya Nagarajan, Fugscreens, Dan Grzeca, Justin Santora and The Fineprint Chicago, as part of our inaugural Shared Walls show. Located at 1615 W. Howard, Sol has amazing coffee, great food, Glazed and Infused donuts, and is a great place to be. We’re so happy to begin this program, and are equally excited to collaborate with a great local business in the same neighborhood in which our organization was founded. IPMM’s curated inventory will be available @ Sol throughout September and October.
Follow IPMM on Facebook for updates on the Sol Cafe x Shared Walls by IPaintMyMind™ Opening on Sept 19th, and be sure to visit Sol Cafe whenever you’re near the Howard red line stop to grab some quality coffee and some affordable art. Everything in the cafe is under $50, and the IPMM Mandala prints by Steve Walters are our thanks to you for a $15 donation. $20 gets you coffee and a screenprint!
As the Shared Walls by IPaintMyMind™ rolls into new cultural spaces and businesses’, we look forward to curating our growing collection
