As we build toward our goal of putting art in every Ward in Chicago by the end of 2016, we decided to get ambitious and try installing two Shared Walls™ loaned art exhibitions in the same day. We’re happy to report that it went extremely well! Now we know we can put art in two neighborhoods in a single day, which really helps from an efficiency standpoint.
First we went to Taylor Elementary in the 10th Ward, located at 9912 S Ave H near the skyway to Indiana, and installed design screen prints of cities all over the country made by longtime IPMM collaborator, Tony Frankenberg of Mr. City Prints. As we installed the art, the kids would walk by and recite the names of the cities – it was awesome. It’s amazing to see how large Chicago is, and get to interact with educators & children from all over our city.
After that we went to Crane Medical Prep at Oakley and Van Buren and installed a variety of gigposters by Justin Santora, Fugscreens & Dan Grzeca. We’re so happy to spread the enjoyment of these loaned art exhibitions to both private & public partners.
Many thanks to the staff at Taylor Elementary and Crane Medical Prep High School for helping coordinate these exhibitions!
You can donate to help support these FREE Shared Walls™ exhibitions IPMM offers schools, parks, libraries, and community centers all over Chicago. Every $1 helps!
